U.S. Influencer Amplifies False Narratives About Canada to 1.5 Million YouTube Viewers

A prominent US based MAGA aligned populist influencer, Cash Jordan, who has 1.77 million subscribers on YouTube published three videos over the past week targeting Canada and Alberta. One video titled, “Trump’s Trade War Just SPLIT Canada… NOW ALBERTA VOTES TO LEAVE” published on October 14, has had 476,000 views.

The video portrays President Donald Trump’s trade war as breaking Canada apart and Alberta’s October 19 referendum as an imminent step toward independence. The video stitches Canadian broadcast clips and interviews to partisan commentary, combining genuine affordability concerns with misleading economic claims and an exaggerated narrative of national collapse. Among the core narratives are:

  • Ottawa is ‘stealing’ Alberta’s oil wealth;
  • Carney and corporate elites supposedly profit while workers suffer;
  • green policies allegedly prohibit energy development;
  • Trump’s tariffs are forcing Canada’s breakup;
  • Quebec’s election indicates a domino effect.

In another video titled “ “LET US IN”… Canadians STORM THE BORDER as Trump’s War Causes MASS EXODUS” published on October 15, and viewed 960,000 times, Cash Jordan extends the same U.S.-origin narrative sequence: Canada is supposedly collapsing under American tariffs, Alberta is on the verge of leaving, and closer Canada–EU ties are evidence of betrayal of the United States. Jordan falsely claims that Canada will become the EU’s 28th member at the October 29–30 Montréal summit.

He also endorses Trump’s 51st-state rhetoric and frames Canadian efforts to preserve sovereignty and diversify trade as hostile to America. Genuine job losses and a small brewery’s relocation plans are used as proof of a broader exodus without population-wide evidence.
