Russian Security Council Claims “de-satanization” of Ukraine Required

An October 26, 2022 article published on the Russian state media platform TASS, claims that the Russian Security Council is focusing its operations on the “complete de-Satanization” of Ukraine.

The TASS article claims that a US-based “Church of Satan” has spread across Ukraine. The article quotes the assistant secretary of the Security Council who suggests satanic collaboration with Ukrainian authorities, claiming that “all this Satanism finds a lively response and support from the official Ukrainian authorities”. He further claims that by “using network manipulation and psycho-technologies, the new authorities have turned Ukraine from a state into a totalitarian hypersect” of the Satanic Church.

The Kremlin and Russian state media initially justified their invasion of Ukraine as “de-Nazification” operation – despite the fact that Ukraine’s President Zelensky is Jewish and not a single far-right political party holds a seat in Ukraine’s parliament.

The Kremlin’s “de-Satanization” narrative aligns with comments given by Vladimir Putin in September 2022, during which he claimed that The West is “moving toward open satanism”.

On July 8, 2022, Kremlin spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Canadian sanctions of being “satanist.”
