A website called The Canadian Report, has posted a letter that it claims was leaked by a member of the Liberal Party’s Strategic Planning Committee. The article has been exposed to over 4 million Facebook users since being published on October 14, 2020 and has been shared by thousands of social media accounts including those aligned with foreign governments.
The inauthentic “Liberal insider” outlines several dubious objectives that includes the “Deployment of military personnel into major metropolitan areas as well as all major roadways to establish travel checkpoints. Restrict travel and movement….”
The letter also makes the claim that “the federal government was going to offer Canadians a total debt relief.” According to the letter, Canadians would also be forced to take COVID vaccines.
Facebook has placed a warning on links to the story clearly stating that it is “False Information” which has been “checked by independent fact checkers.” Reuters Fact Checkers have also stated that “This alleged email is not authentic and is used to bolster a claim that has no basis in fact.”
The thecanadianreport.ca website has no contact page nor is there any information available about its owners on the website. A lookup of the URL does not reveal any of the owner details.
