COVID Vaccines Do Not Contain Aborted Fetal Tissue

A video recently shared on Facebook and other social media platforms is being de-contextualized with the suggestion that AstraZeneca’s COVID vaccines contain cells from aborted fetuses. Videos containing similar claims were posted in November. There is no “aborted fetal tissue” in any COVID 19 vaccine.

It is true that the vaccine has been developed by growing it in human cells originally derived from the kidney tissue sourced from an aborted fetus from the 1970s. But these human cells have been replicated many times since then and are used broadly in medical research. However, the vaccine does not contain any of this cellular material.

Those who receive the AstraZeneca vaccine will not be injected with “aborted fetal tissue fragments.”
